Alberta Express Entry Stream
Last updated: September 30, 2019
Alberta’s Express Entry Stream is one of those Provincial Nominee Program (PNP) streams to which you cannot apply. Well, that is unless you are invited to do so. But how do you get an invitation? Let’s look deeper into that and other details about Alberta Express Entry Stream.
First of all, to catch Alberta’s eye—in other words, to get a Notification of Interest—you have to be present in the Express Entry pool with a CRS score of 300 or more. Alberta is interested in people who work in occupations that can help support Alberta’s economic development and diversification. Having ties to Alberta helps. For instance, the following qualifies as having ties to Alberta:
- a close family member in Alberta
- a Canadian citizen friend in Alberta
- business/professional connections in Alberta (previous work experience or a job offer)
- being a graduate of an Alberta post-secondary institution with a job offer in Alberta
Please note that having ties to Alberta is NOT required, but is a positive factor and an advantage over others. Not to mention, you have to have the intention to live and work in Alberta—that comes naturally with a PNP stream.
